Quantum Dots

Semiconductor nanocrystals, or quantum dots are small particles of semiconductor material, consisting of a few hundreds to thousands of atoms with size ranged from 1 nm to 10 nm. Quantum dots have unique size- and composition-dependent optical and electrical properties due to quantum confinement. QDs’ unique features have attracted a considerable interest and the variety of new applications is expanding quickly in a variety of applications including biological fluorescent labels, light emitting diodes, lasers, and solar cells.

Our group was devoted to the development of synthetic approach with the ability to produce quantum dots in large-scale and the application of quantum dots. CdSe, CdTe, CdSe/ZnS quantum dots had been synthesized in our lab, which showed high quantum yield, narrow FWHM and perfect crystal. Application of quantum dots in the field of solar cells, light emitting diodes , biological fluorescent imaging and diagnosis of serious disease have been carried out recently.

A series of high-quality CdSe NCs were prepared using low-cost reagents, such as paraffin liquid, CdO, Se powder. Expensive solvents (TOPO, TOP) and hazardous, unstable precursors were unnecessary. This work attracted a considerable interest in peer researcher.
