Yi Li

　　Prof. Yi Li graduated with BEng. in Textile Engineering in 1982 and MSc in Textile Material Science in 1984 from The North-West Institute of Textile Science and Technology. He gained his PhD in fiber/clothing science from the University of Leeds, England in 1988, and his MBA from the Macquaire University, Australia in 1996. Prior to joining the Institute of Textiles and Clothing, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1996, Prof. Li worked as a senior research scientist and a project manager in the CSIRO Division of Wool Technology, Australia.

With over 500 scientific publications and more than 30 patents, he is a Fellow of the Textile Institute, Life Fellows of International Biographical Association and the Royal Society of Art, Commerce and Manufacturing, and adjunct professors of four universities in China and a member of several professional bodies. He is the President of Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Society and the Editor-in-Chief of “Journal of Fiber Bioengineering and Informatics”.

He has won more than 29 awards on research papers, patent inventions, technology transfer and scholarships and serves as member of a number of research committees of AATCC and ASTM. His research interests cover nanotechnology, textile biotechnology, textile physics, heat and moisture transfer in textile materials, clothing physiology and psychology, smart textiles and apparel products, clothing function and comfort, objective measurement and specification of apparel products, new product development, functional CAD technology, strategic management and sustainable competitiveness. He has been invited to give key lectures at a number of international conferences in the area of nanotechnology, clothing bioengineering, clothing comfort and functional design. Prof. Li is the chief scientist of a number of projects in nanotechnology, smart thermal functional materials, functional CAD technology, and biomaterials and biofunctional textiles
